THIS CROSSFIT MOBILITY CHECKLIST IS FOR YOU IF:

  • Competitions: Dr. Junak can often be found providing free injury management at multiple Central Ohio CrossFit Competitions throughout the year, including Girls Gone Rx, Festivus, The Arnold Classic, and Winter Wod-Land.
  • Board Certified and Residency Trained: Dr. Junak completed a year long, highly competitive, post-doctoral residency education with the Cleveland Clinic Orthopaedic and Sport Residency Program. During his time with the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Junak received focused training on the treatment and management of complex sports related injuries including rotator cuff tears, tendonitis, disc herniations, and muscle strains.

I had knee surgery and doc said I would be fine in 4 to 6 weeks. Doc sent me to "his PT". Well, I saw a physical therapist once, for 10 minutes, the I felt like I was pawned off to a young kid who was following a rigid manual vs treating me, an adult athlete. I was frustrated, still in pain, and couldn't do a basic wt. Bearing squat. I was compensating for pain and that caused ankle and hip issues.

I was referred to Andrew who laid out a treatment plan. At first, I was like "man this is going to be expensive since it is out of network" expensive is a relative term.

I saw Andrew for six treatment sessions, I was supervised by a DPT for an hour at each session. I had dry needling (that was new to me) as well. He watched my movements He challenged me to failure. He pushed me to breakthrough.

I was gaining confidence every step of the way. After 6 treatments, I was back to weight bearing squats, power cleans and running without pain. I still wear a sleeve, and I am cautious to warm up properly and to listen to my body.
